Summer is near, which means it’s time to hit the beach. This also means showing off your body in a public setting, which can be uncomfortable to some. Even though summer is right around the corner, that doesn’t mean it is too late to improve your physique. Plus, obtaining a beach body doesn’t have to end when the summer does; this journey will only improve your overall health and confidence. Learn how you can get a beach body that will allow you to feel comfortable in your own skin for years to come.

Eat Protein

One of the best things you can do to get a shredded body this summer is to add protein into every meal. While that might sound like it could get old fast, the great thing about protein is there are plenty of ways to obtain it. Some favored protein options include chicken, salmon, tuna, eggs, quinoa, and turkey. Additionally, if you are struggling to find ways to incorporate protein into your meals, consider having a protein shake after your workouts.

Avoid Snacking

As you work toward yourbeach body, you’re going to want to try and avoid snacks at all costs. Calorie intake is critical for those looking to maintain a toned body. Eating whenever you want (or whenever you’re bored) is a recipe for disaster. We recommend meal prepping, as this will help you stay on a consistent schedule of what to eat and when. We also suggest tracking your macros in order to get in the best shape possible for the summer.

Don’t Drink Alcohol

While this could be the toughest tip on the list to follow, it is best for you to not drink alcohol. This includes beer, wine, and cocktails—all of which can quickly add up to hundreds of calories. Furthermore, since alcohol doesn’t fill you up, you are essentially consuming unnecessary calories. If you want to look your best this summer, avoid indulging in alcoholic beverages.

Get a Proper Amount of Sleep

Sleep is an imperative part of achieving a toned body. Be sure you’re getting a healthy amount of sleep every night—this will help your body recover after hitting the gym. Plus, not getting sleep can cause you to lose motivation and potentially break away from your beach body ambitions.

Try Following A Diet

Perhaps the most important step to building a beach body is dieting; you will want to stick to a well-balanced diet in order to achieve your fitness goals. The good news is there are plenty of simple steps you can take to ensure you’re eating a healthy diet. This means not only taking in extra protein as we mentioned above but getting plenty of nutrients as well.

Perform Ab Workouts

One area of the body you will want to focus on is your core. At the end of each workout, take time to exercise your abs. You can do this by simply adding some circuit training to the end of your normal routine. Strengthening your core will put you on the path to obtaining the beach body of your dreams.

Stay Away from Sodium

Sodium is in almost everything, and unfortunately, it can cause your body to retain more water. Keeping sodium out of your diet will help you avoid possible bloating that will make you look puffy and appear to have put on weight. This goes back to clean eating and avoiding high-sodium meals at places like fast food restaurants.

Use Proper Form When Exercising

It is one thing to go to the gym, but if you’re not using proper form during your workouts, it may not be worth your time. Proper form is very important—it can help you avoid injury, use your energy effectively, and reach your goals faster. If possible, employ a personal trainer. A few session will give you the opportunity to learn from a professional and discuss what workouts are best for your individual body.

Take Part in HIIT

Another way to get your body in great shape for the summer is to try high intensity-interval training, otherwise known as HIIT. This training calls for fast bursts of sprinting with breaks in between. In fact, research shows that interval training such as HIIT is more effective than traditional workouts—they deliver more improvements.

Do More Back Workouts

Similar to focusing on abs, your back is another area that you’ll want to work on while at the gym. Strengthening your back is important because it will allow you to lift more with your upper body, specifically your shoulders. Good back exercises include deadlifts, supine rows, pullups, and more.

Increase Your Fiber Intake

Another step you will want to take is to increase how much fiber you eat. Eating foods high in fiber, such as broccoli, avocados, and almonds, will boost your metabolism. Boosting your metabolism will help you lose weight and keep it off in the future.

Drink A Lot of Water

While training for the best beach body, drinking lots of water each day will prove to be very helpful. The amount of water you drink depends on how much work you are putting in. To prevent dehydration, you’ll want to account for water loss and make it up throughout the day. According to Healthline, “Health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses.”

Don’t Skip Leg Workouts

On top of abs and back, you’ll also want to do leg workouts while at the gym. In fact, working your lower body can assist in building up the rest of your physique. Don’t skip leg workouts—for a great beach body, it is important to have balance.

Implement Fasted Cardio

Instead of doing cardio later on in the day, try doing it first thing the morning or when you are hungry. Fasted cardio is a great way to achieve your beach body because there is no food that your body needs to burn off. This will allow you to start burning off the extra fat stored in your body.
